In 2009, a couple, Wu Jin and Wang Jing Yun, walked into this garden and were so impressed by the evocative feeling of the fruit trees and surroundings that they decided to open a bed-and-breakfast here. Their vision turned into the first Yang Tao hotel, which was one of the pioneering B&Bs on Kulangsu. The sleek garden bar is a great place for a drink, even for non-guests.

(There are now two other Yang Tao properties on the island: the elegant Zhong Hua Red Ink branch and the glorious Fu Xing Castle.)

2009年的一天，吴瑾夫妇与王京云夫妇走进了安海路的一个院子，顿时被吸引住了，那番景象至今难忘。“一进门，一棵枝繁叶茂的杨桃树轻轻摇曳在头顶，满树繁花，阳光透过缝隙轻轻洒在红砖地上。细细看，翠绿的杨桃果子躲在树叶之中，在无人打理的情况下它们仍静静生长，从不辜负什么，这难道不正是一直想要的生命的模样……“

正因这股情愫，使他们萌生了创办民宿的想法。于是，便有了第一家“杨桃院子”，安海路8号。
